I work in a small office. We have one server and four terminals. Had to replace two terminals at once - I was responsible for purchasing the replacement computers. Thought I found a good deal and spent almost $900 of the bosses money - after I had told him it would be about $800. Placed the order and reviewed the 10 pgs I had printed out to know what I had ordered, when, order confirmation number, etc. Out of the ten pages, it was mentioned once that these were ''refurbished'' units. Needless to say, I had not noticed this bit of info until after logging off. Should I turn in my resignation now and avoid the embarrasment of being fired when these things blow up or can someone make me feel better? Maybe recommendations for routine maintenance, past experience, etc.

Nothing wrong with a refurb. They are just that ..refurbished to a factory new state. Most come with full warranties as well, so what's the problem. You just saved a whack of cash and probably got a couple of decent machines.

The pc I am using was a referb from a company. It did not have any software system on it, other than that it works just fine. The clear everything including the operating system so that you could have no accidental access to any of their info. I haven't had any problems.
Refurbished machines generally are OK, and work fine. I have bought a few myself, and have had no problems. They are still in use.
You really should tell the boss what exactly you bought. You may need to explain to him that if you were to get new equipment, the price would have been much higher. A good employer will always appreciate an employee who is trying to save the company money.
Hope this helps!
