On the other side of that argument, I love the fact that I can talk to people on the other side of the earth if I don't like the people I'm currently around. I'm not dependent on computers but it helps me avoid unwanted interaction with personalities that I have a right not to be harassed by.

Because we become too spoiled, and most business would have to shut down from a power failure, because stores cannot check people out, banks cannot do tranactions, secretaries can 't do their work, because the manual typewriters have become as extinct as the dinosaur. Man had in essence become a slave to the machine which he thinks make life easier for him.
Because when we are addicted to our computers we sometimes forget about how to actually interact with real live humans.
Any type of dependency can hinder real life. You could sleep less, do less, go out less. It's basically just what the computer is keeping people from doing instead.
Because it promotes dependence on other sources for thought (like caluclators and the people who program them).

Because if all of our essential records like medical charts, financial info, etc. are left on a computer if the computer crashes that info is lost.

It also puts the control in the person who manages the computers hands. If they have all this information and they try to use it against me and some of it is false, I would have no way of refuting it.
