Can someone tell me how to share files with two computers?

I just bought a router and have set up two computers on a network. The network is working, but I can't figure out how to look at files that are on my desktop, while I'm on my laptop. The desktop has Windows xp and the laptop has Windows Vista.

find the name of your computer, to do right click on my computer %26gt; properties %26gt; computer name.

to go to this computer from another open anyfile and in the url bar type \\nameofpc, then click enter, it will take you to what that person is sharing, u can add shortcuts to this folder like my videos to make file accessable

All you have to do is right click the file and select "share" then you can access the files from the other computer and vise/versa also the network and share program in control panel has to be configured go in there and set it to you liking
