VNC will do what you are looking for. It is simple to setup on Win32 and comes in just about every other OS flavor under the sun. It can be tuned to work well even at dialup speeds. There are a few variants out so you do have quite a selection. Below is one that I have used and can verify that it works well.

You can do this in windows XP professional.

When you setup your network you can see who is on the network and set access levels, etc.

How do I create a home LAN for two computers?

I have a desktop and laptop with a cable modem. The cable modem runs to a Linksys wireless router, and an ethernet cable connects the router to the desktop. The laptop has a wireless card and receives internet from the router wirelessly. How do I go about setting these two computers up to recognize each other on a LAN?

From a networking perspective, you already have a LAN. You're just not making the most of it by ''sharing'' equipment on one machine with the other. The basic way of doing this is:

Get to the printer you want to share. One way is to

1. Click on Start-%26gt;Control Panel.

2. Click on Printers and Other Hardware

3. Click on Printers and Faxes.

4. Double-click on the printer.

Once you're on the printer,

1. Click on the Printer-%26gt;Sharing menu Item.

2. Select Share this Printer.

3. Click OK.

Now, that's the basic setup. Other issues you're likely to encounter are:

1. Firewall blocking Windows File and Printer Sharing.

2. Drivers for the printer out on the borrowing machine.

Another tip: You'll be greatly tempted to share files and directories, and that can be very useful, but share only a few, isolated directories. Shared directories are a hacker's dream. And do NOT share the root of your C: drive: That opens up the entire drive to the world.

Is there any way to not lose all your songs on Ipod when you switch computers?

I have recently got an Ipod and will be purchasing a laptop soon for when I go off to college. I would like to download songs and have them for right now and this summer until I leave and head off to college by using my computer at home knowing that I will be using my laptop at school. I have heard that your music is saved to only one computer and if you switch computers all music is lost on your ipod and you are forced to start building your library all over again. Is there anyway around this?

(1) When you stop using the old machine, pick the ''De-authorize computer'' option in iTunes.

(2) Physically copy all the files in your iTunes library from your old machine to your new laptop. This would be easiest by copying the files to a CD (or a whole bunch of CDs). iTunes has a ''backup'' option that'll do this.

(3) On the new machine, you'll need to authorize any purchased songs by entering your iTunes ID and password. If you did step #1, it won't charge you.

Will true artificial intelligence (AI) ever be achieved in computers/robots?

Will true artificial intelligence (AI) ever be achieved in computers/robots? Is this even possible?

Explain and discuss.

Will true artificial intelligence (AI) ever be achieved in computers/robots?vincent

Hmmm... this is an interesting question that has been asked for many years by many great minds. But, the question in this form is just unanswerable--but it is unaswerable in any form right now.

First we must define what intelligence is. We can simply say that intelligence is the computational ability of humans. This may not be the best definition, but it is essential asking, ''will computers ever be as smart as humans?''

Even defining intelligence by referencing human brain power doesn't help us very much, because there is so little known about the brain. When you solve a math problem we have no idea what your brain did to get to the solution, thus AI is as much a problem cognitive and nuero science right now as it is for computer science. Assuming we could figure out exactly how the brain thinks, then it is reasonable to believe that we could build a machine to follow this thought process (but this would probably calculate very differently from the computers we have today).

This last approach focused on changing the hardware of computers in order to acheive AI. This is only one approach. Another would be to look at the software and attempt to control the hardware we currently have available. There has been much progress in this area. Look at the video games of today. It is pretty amazing how good the AI of some games is today. Your digital enemy reacts to your each and every move, some games (some of the new football games) even ''learn'' your style of play and will play differently against you than they will other people. These feats are pretty impressive, but they boil down to little more than storing what you have done in the past and looking up some reaction that they are suppose to make to your action. Really on the basic level it is just manipulating bytes of data or shifting or adding 1's and 0's.

What is it that i need to connect multi computers to one phone line?

i want to be able to surf while the other computers are online.

is it a hub or a router?

i am on dialup for now until they get the cables ran for highspeed in my area.

What is it that i need to connect multi computers to one phone line?virus protection

I personally have not done multiple computers on a single dial-up line because it would be too slow and not practical. Just wait for your DSL line or ask for a WIFI service in your area.

Router, there better than hubs for internet. I recommend the WRT54G from Linksys.
